Travel ID Requirements
Are you still a little uncertain about what type of ID you need to travel to and from the US? Here is a summary of the latest requirements: As of January 31, 2008: All those 19 years of age and older need the following: For travel by land or sea to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or the Caribbean, you will need a government issued ID such as a driver's license AND proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate (no copies please). Children 18 years of age and younger need only show a birth certificate. The passport requirement we have heard so much about has been delayed until 2009. HOWEVER, you must have a passport if you are flying back into the US from Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. This has been in effect since January, 2007. Flying into the US from Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands does NOT require a passport. Remember that if you need a passport, Thomas & Thomas is your passport photo headquarters.
